About this extension
Save any image on the web in the format you actually want - JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, or PDF - straight from the right-click menu. No more screenshots, no more "this site only gives me WebP."

HOW IT WORKS
Right-click any image, pick your format, done. The image is converted on your own device and saved.

REAL CONVERSION, NOT A RENAMED FILE
The image is genuinely re-encoded by your browser's own graphics engine - not just handed a new file extension. A file saved as a JPEG really is one inside, so it opens in Photoshop, Office, Preview, and anything else you throw it at.

CONVERT WHILE YOU SAVE
- WebP to JPG - the most common reason people install this
- AVIF to JPG or PNG
- PNG to JPG, with transparency flattened onto a clean white background
- SVG rasterized into a real pixel image
- Anything to WebP or AVIF for smaller files
Works on regular images, CSS background images, and video posters.

IT REMEMBERS WHERE YOU SAVED
Pick a folder once and the save dialog opens there next time, instead of dropping you back at the top of Downloads on every single image. Browsers only permit saving inside the Downloads folder, so any subfolder of Downloads works - that boundary comes from the browser itself.

PREFER NO DIALOG AT ALL?
Turn the file picker off and images save straight to your Downloads folder, with no prompt on every save.

ONE-CLICK SAVING
Set a default format in settings and a single "Save Image as JPG" entry appears at the top level of your right-click menu. No submenu to hover open, no waiting - one click and it is saved.

YOUR FILENAMES ARE KEPT
Saves as "sunset-photo.jpg", not "download.png". Add an optional timestamp so repeated saves never overwrite each other, or build your own filename from placeholders for the original name, the site, the date, and a counter.

SAVE AS PDF
Turn any image into a one-page PDF, sized exactly to the image - no forced Letter page, no white margin around it - or fit it to a printable A4 page if you prefer. Most JPEGs are embedded unchanged, with nothing re-compressed, so the PDF is pixel-for-pixel the original (metadata aside - see below). The usual approach is to push the image back through the browser's encoder on the way into the PDF, which re-compresses it and costs you quality for nothing. Rotated, progressive, and CMYK JPEGs are converted first, as is anything that is not a JPEG, at the quality you set.

QUALITY YOU CONTROL
Independent quality sliders for JPG, WebP, and AVIF, so you decide the trade-off between file size and crisp text and edges.

SHRINK BIG IMAGES ON THE WAY OUT
Set a maximum width and height and oversized images are scaled down as they save. Off by default, and images are never scaled up - a small image stays exactly as it is.

BATCH SAVE
Open the toolbar popup to grab every image on a page at once, in the format you choose, packaged into a single ZIP. No cap, no paywall.

COPY TO CLIPBOARD
Copy any image as a PNG straight to your clipboard, for pasting into chats, documents, and remote desktop sessions. This is the only thing clipboard access is used for.

METADATA IS DROPPED ON SAVE
EXIF metadata is discarded on save, including GPS coordinates and camera serial numbers, so you are not unintentionally sharing where a photo was taken.

NO TELEMETRY IN THIS BUILD
The Firefox build ships with no analytics code at all. Not disabled by default, not opt-out - the code is removed at build time, so there is nothing in the add-on that could send a request even if it wanted to. You can verify this in the source archive submitted alongside the add-on.

Beyond that:
- All conversion runs locally in your browser. Images never leave your device, and there is no conversion server for them to be uploaded to.
- No affiliate-link injection. No injected ads. No selling data.
- No nagging: at most two small prompts ever, each permanently dismissible.

WORKS IN PRIVATE WINDOWS
Tick "Run in Private Windows" in the add-on's settings and it works there too. Saves made in a private window are never written to the add-on's own save history.

MAINTAINED
Browsers change, and a converter that is not kept up with them quietly stops working. This one is actively updated, and Firefox is covered by its own automated test suite on every change.

This is a clean, trustworthy replacement for the original "Save Image As Type" that was removed for malware. Same convenience, none of the abuse.
