Summary
This extension does not collect, transmit, sell, or share any data. It has no server, opens no network connection, and contains no analytics or tracking. Everything it stores stays on your device.
A copy of this policy also ships inside the extension itself and can be read with no network connection.
What is stored, and where
The extension writes the following to your browser's local extension storage. It never leaves your device and is not accessible to any website you visit.
Item Detail
Saved readings Up to 24 colour values, each with the time it was taken
Default notation One of hex, rgb, hsl, oklch
First-run flag Whether the introduction has been dismissed
Browser-synchronised storage is deliberately not used. Saved readings do not travel between your devices, because doing so would require sending them off this one. The project's build fails if synchronised storage appears anywhere in the source.
The captured frame
When you take a reading, the extension captures one image of the visible area of the tab you invoked it on. That image is held in memory only, for as long as the panel is open. It is never written to storage, never transmitted, and is discarded when the panel closes.
The capture happens only after you click. The extension holds no standing access to any site and injects no code into any page.
Purpose and legal basis
The stored items exist solely to make the tool work as described: to show your recent readings, to remember your preferred notation, and to avoid repeating the introduction. They are used for no other purpose.
Because no data is transmitted to or received by the publisher, the publisher does not act as a data controller or processor of your information under the UK GDPR or the EU GDPR. The data never leaves your device and is under your control at all times.
Retention and deletion
Stored items persist on your device until you delete them. You can clear all saved readings at any time from the extension's settings page. Uninstalling the extension removes everything it has stored.
Third parties
There are none. The extension contains no third-party libraries, no software development kits, no fonts or assets loaded from other origins, and no advertising, analytics, or crash-reporting services. Nothing is shared with anyone, because nothing is transmitted at all.
Your rights
Data-protection law gives you rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and objection in respect of personal data held about you. The publisher holds no data about you, so there is nothing to disclose, correct, or erase on request. You can exercise the practical equivalent directly and immediately: the settings page shows everything stored and clears it on demand.
Under the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended, the extension does not collect, sell, or share personal information, and there is therefore nothing to opt out of. No financial incentive is offered for data, and no data is used for cross-context behavioural advertising.
If you believe your data has been mishandled, you may complain to your national data-protection authority.
Children
The extension is a developer tool and is not directed to children. It collects no personal information from anyone, including children under 13, so the verifiable-parental-consent obligations of the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act do not arise.
Changes to this policy
If a future version of the extension changes what is stored or introduces any transmission of data, this policy will be updated and the change described here before that version is published. The date at the top of this page records the current revision.
