Lumen Companion collects the URL and title of the active Firefox tab, Firefox window focus state, browser family, and extension version. It transmits this information only over a loopback WebSocket (127.0.0.1, ports 28713–28715) to the Lumen desktop app running on the same computer.

The extension does not contact remote servers, inject content scripts into websites, sell data, use browsing activity for advertising, or use it to train machine-learning models.

The Lumen desktop app stores reported browsing activity locally as part of the user's time entries. If the user signs in to Lumen, the desktop app may sync those time entries to the Lumen service. Raw activity is visible only to the user; workspace members see aggregate hours and do not see visited sites or window titles.
