Extension Metadata

About this extension
PDD Envoy is the recording client for Public Digital Domain, a marketplace where you license your own browsing data to organizations under per-transaction contracts that you review before they exist, and where you can contribute that same record to a research study you choose to join.

Collecting your browsing is the whole point of this extension. It is not telemetry, it is not analytics, and it is not advertising. It is the product, and it is disclosed before you install it.

How it works

Envoy records your browsing on your own device, under your own account. Nothing is licensed to anyone without a contract you have seen and sent to market yourself.

What you control

Research studies

If you join a study, Envoy sends that study's slice from your device straight to the research lab. It does not pass through PDD's servers. Before it leaves, the record is reduced to an explicit list of fields: the kind of event, the site's domain, when it happened, and non-identifying details like scroll depth. Your address, page title, and event identifiers are dropped. You are represented by a pseudonym unique to that study, so the same person in two studies is two unrelated participants. Some studies ask you to approve specific items one at a time, and then only those items are sent. Withdrawing stops delivery immediately.

What Envoy never records

Envoy does not record what you type, what you search for, what you enter into forms, or any authored content. The exclusion is enforced in code at the moment of capture. URLs are stripped of query strings before storage.

Sensitive activity

Sensitive domains are held out of sale by default. Some categories are permanently dark and cannot be licensed at all.
