About this extension
pour DevTools finds accessibility issues on any page, explains each one in plain language, and shows you exactly how to fix it. It is built on the pour engine, an open-source WCAG rules engine written directly from the spec, and everything runs locally in your browser.
AUDIT ANY PAGE
• Run an accessibility audit from the toolbar popup or the DevTools panel
• 74 automated rules, plus opt-in best-practice checks, including checks for accessibility that should be removed
• Results grouped by rule and ordered by severity (critical, serious, moderate, minor), with a separate review lane for findings that need human judgement, so automation never overstates what it can prove
FIX WITH CONFIDENCE
• Every finding shows the element, its markup, why it fails in plain language, and a concrete fix
• Show highlights the element on the page; Inspect jumps to it in the Elements panel; hovering a result previews it live
• Contrast findings link to an interactive checker prefilled with the exact failing color pair
• Copy the report as markdown for tickets and code reviews, or download it as CSV or JSON
• Audits reach inside iframes, including cross-origin frames, and open shadow DOM
EXPERIENCE, NOT JUST DETECTION
• 49 vision, sensory and motor simulations you can apply to any page: color-vision deficiencies (deuteranopia, protanopia, tritanopia and their milder forms), glaucoma, macular degeneration, cataracts, diabetic retinopathy, reduced contrast and low light, light and motion sensitivity, and reading-stress conditions like crowding and letter instability
• Motor simulations too: hand and resting tremor, ataxic drift, sudden jerks, and a hidden pointer that leaves you on the keyboard. The fastest way to find targets that are too small to hit
• Experience the page the way others do, then fix what gets in the way
PRIVATE BY DESIGN
• Everything runs in your browser: no accounts, no servers, no analytics, no data collection of any kind
• Audit intranets, local builds, and pages behind a login. Nothing ever leaves your machine
FREE, WITH NO CATCH
pour is a non-profit initiative. No subscriptions, no paid tiers, no upsells. Accessibility tooling should not be gatekept.
The pour engine is open source (github.com/pourdev/pour-engine) and validated against pixel-measured ground truth. Learn more at pour.dev
