About this extension
Your prompt library, in the side panel
PromptVault keeps the prompts you have saved on promptvault.us one click away. Open the side panel, search or filter your library, and drop the prompt you want straight into the assistant you are already talking to.
What it does

Browse and search your own prompts, categories and bookmarks in a panel beside the page - no tab switching.

One-click insert into the composer of ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Microsoft Copilot, GitHub Copilot, Perplexity, Grok, DeepSeek, Mistral, Kimi, Poe and Apollo.io. Prompts are converted to Markdown so formatting survives.

Copy any prompt to the clipboard for everywhere else.

Save selection as prompt - right-click any text you like the look of and it becomes an editable draft in the panel.

Sign in once - the extension reuses the session you already created on the PromptVault website.

Why these permissions?
Firefox lists every site an extension can run on under the wording "Access your data for ...". That is Firefox's own standard phrasing for permission to run a script on the page - it is not a statement about what PromptVault actually reads. Here is exactly what we do with each one, and you can switch any of them off in Add-ons -> PromptVault -> Permissions and data at any time.

The AI assistant sites (chatgpt.com, chat.openai.com, claude.ai, gemini.google.com, copilot.microsoft.com, m365.cloud.microsoft, github.com/copilot, perplexity.ai, grok.com, chat.deepseek.com, chat.mistral.ai, kimi.com, poe.com, app.apollo.io) - so the extension can find the message box and type your prompt into it when you click Insert. It also reads that one text box back immediately afterwards, purely to confirm the text landed and avoid inserting it twice. Nothing on the page is logged, stored or sent anywhere. Your conversations are never read.

promptvault.us - a small script on our own site hands your sign-in session to the extension after you log in, so you do not have to sign in twice. This is the only script that ever touches a token, and it runs on our domain only.

api.promptvault.us - our own backend, where your prompt library actually lives.

"Access your data for all websites" - shipped switched off, and never requested at install. It exists only so that you can turn on insertion for a site we do not support out of the box, from a toggle inside the panel.

What PromptVault never does

It does not read, store or transmit your conversations, page content or browsing history.

It does not run on any site outside the list above.

It contains no analytics, no tracking, no crash reporting and no advertising.

It shares nothing with third parties - the only server it talks to is PromptVault's own API.

It never writes your tokens anywhere a web page can read them (no localStorage, no cookies).

What leaves your device
Only what is needed to run your account, and only to PromptVault's own API:

Your session, so you stay signed in.

Your profile (name, email, avatar), which you can view and edit in the panel.

Text you deliberately capture with "Save selection as prompt" - shown to you as an editable draft first, and saved to your library only when you confirm.

Your cached prompt list, your settings and your recently-used history stay on your device and are never uploaded.
Requirements
A free PromptVault account at promptvault.us. Firefox 115 or newer.
