by Firefox user 13262784, 6 years agoIt seems pretty decent, once one understands at least some basics. However, although I can't comment on long use data loss, which other users obviously experienced, since I am only using it for a few days now, for me, I have two main problems with this add-on:
(1) If Firefox is *not* open and I click on a link in another app which opens Firefox, then Firefox is opened *but* the link is not followed. I have to go back to the app and click the link again after FF is open. This sucks.
(2) The context menu of the "tabs" in the side bar to not offer any tab context menu items but *only* custom "Simple Tab Groups" items. This defeats the purpose of the side bar for me, which would be that I could turn off the main tab bar. But then I do not have a tab context menu anymore with this add-on. So, as a work-around I am using the "Tree Style Tab" add-on in the side bar and for now the "Simple Tab Groups" in the tool bar.

If I may suggest, could you add a shuffle tabs option? it would be useful to those of us that hoard tabs like a dragon but forget about them. - Rated 5 out of 5by jeeyu, 20 days ago

This most likely because he is being affected by the WAR in Ukraine, where he lives. Hoping for his safe return to programming tools like this.
FYI, There is newer code on Git that was submitted just over a month ago. I'm trying to figiure out how to install that and test it. - Rated 1 out of 5by nucky, a month agoUsing this for years, have to stop now and find an alternative. Do not recommend at all
Keeps hiding random tabs from random groups every day. Then you have to manually find the hidden tabs in the firefox hidden tabs menu and reopen them only for it to randomly close a bunch again - Rated 4 out of 5by TT, 2 months agoaddon "Hide Tabs" may help you unhide all tabs after firefox update problem

Works perfectly!!!! - Rated 4 out of 5by Juno, 3 months ago
- Rated 3 out of 5by Firefox user 19937432, 3 months agoWorked well until recently. Now every time you open FF after closing it, some of the tab groups are in different windows, some might be empty, and the backups just aren't there. This extension has totally lost its purpose as being able to save what you're doing through restarts.
- Rated 4 out of 5by EnergyMover, 3 months agoRestore backup no longer works with firefox May 13 2026 update! Looks like an abandoned extension. Been over a year since last updated. What a shame. It was the best of its kind!

- Rated 4 out of 5by antonavy, 4 months agoIt's really a good option for the lack of a better one... It gets the job done by hiding tabs from other "workspaces" into the hidden tabs list. Didn't notice a lot of bugs.
But a few things that really push me to use other browsers: it's not as elegant, very simple design, doesn't feel native and natural (compared to vivaldi, arc, zen, opera, etc); and two very annoying things: tab groups don't hidden, but are kinda empty, but still show previews, which brakes immersion and the fact that it spawns a directory every single day in your home folder ("STG-..."), and never cleans it up. - Rated 5 out of 5by Ron Elicit, 4 months agoMy favorite browser extension, hands down. Yes, the last Firefox update broke it. Need your tabs back? Settings > Backup Your Simple Tab Groups > Enable Auto-backup (you should be doing this anyway). Then Restore Backup every time you relaunch Firefox. (I delete existing data and revert to my last save.)
That's how I'm managing until the maintainer updates this extension. (Based on their location in Ukraine, I'm willing to give them some slack.) - Rated 4 out of 5by CarlosTorch, 4 months ago
- Rated 1 out of 5by rbx4, 4 months agoI don't know why anyone would use this. Does not reliably save tab groups.
- Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 14179354, 4 months agokeeps crashing when trying to restore backup. tab groups load but not the pages in them.
- Rated 3 out of 5by Firefox user 16987590, 5 months agoIt's okay. But your max is going to be 4 groups before tabs/browser starts to feel laggy on MacOS.

- Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 19799423, 5 months agoUnfortunately, the add-on no longer works with the current version of Firefox.
- Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 14589876, 5 months agoК сожалению, дополнение неисправно. При попытке восстановить группы из резервной копии, браузер просто падает и восстанавливаются пустые группы.
